The Henriëtte Hustinx Awards were established to emphasise the importance of the programmes provided at the three arts domains of the Arts Faculty of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences for the South Limburg society.
Jaarlijks wordt aan iedere kunstfaculteit een Henriëtte Hustinx Prijs bestaande uit een geldbedrag van € 5.000 aan één persoon of één collectief toegekend. Aan de Maastricht Academy of Fine Arts and Design wordt de prijs uitgereikt aan een promising young artist with the aim of giving a positive impetus to a starting professional practice.
Edmond Hustinx established the award in honor of his sister Henriëtte, who excelled in various disciplines as an artist, violinist in the Maastricht Symphony Orchestra, and teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts. Between 1962 and 1991, this award was presented under the names Academy of Fine Arts Award and Henriëtte Hustinx Art Awards.
