The Hustinx Prize for Science was established in 2011 to mark the foundation's fiftieth anniversary and to underscore the practical significance of science and the importance of the programs offered at Maastricht University faculties to the South Limburg community. The Hustinx Prize for Science entails €15,000.
The award is presented at the opening of the academic year at Maastricht University, with a different faculty being given the opportunity each year to nominate a promising young researcher.
Between 1987 and 2003, the Edmond Hustinx Prize for Science was established to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Hustinx Foundation. This prize, endowed with €7,500 (15,000 guilders), was intended for a researcher affiliated with Maastricht University.
