The Henriëtte Hustinx Awards were established to emphasise the importance of the programmes provided at the three arts domains of the Arts Faculty of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences for the South Limburg society.
Jaarlijks wordt aan iedere kunstfaculteit een Henriëtte Hustinx Prijs bestaande uit een geldbedrag van € 5.000 aan één persoon of één collectief toegekend. Aan het Conservatorium wordt de prijs uitgereikt aan een promising young musician with the aim of giving a positive impetus to a starting professional practice.
Edmond Hustinx established the award in honor of his sister Henriëtte, who excelled in various disciplines as an artist, violinist in the Maastricht Symphony Orchestra, and teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts. Between 1983 and 1990, this award was presented under the name Hustinx Music Prize.
